Vietnam Era 8Th Cavalry Regiment Award Plaque
1st bn of the 8th cavalry regiment presentation plate. Given to an officer by the name of lt. Given in korea for service 1964 to 1965. This is just prior to their deploymnet to vietnam. Their service in vietnam si well documented.
The 1/8th cavalry was stationed at an khe vietnam in sept1965. By late october 1965 they were involved in the bitter fighting in the ia drang valley.
There was a movie a couple of years back that featured this battle and the units involved in the fihgting there. Has the enamelled crests of boht the 8th cavalry and the 1st cavalry division. Given by the officers of teh 8th cavalry.
Plaet measures 9 in diameter. The crossed sabers in the center are are sperately applide emblem.
